The Behavior Specialist is an integral part of the Behavior Team at Crystal Springs. The Behavior Specialist II is responsible for providing in-service instruction to all staff, (on-going in-service
training and orientation of new staff), particularly, in the area of understanding the practice of applied
behavior analysis. Provides direct service to Day Hab, Education and residential staff in need of support for the
behavioral needs of students and individuals.  Processes fully all referrals for behavioral services for those
students and individuals served on their caseload, under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral
Services, Coordinator of Behavioral Services, and/or Behavior Specialist III.

Specific Duties:

  •   Provide a high level of direct behavior support for students and individuals served and staff through observations, modeling, teaching, role-playing, and coaching.
  • With the Clinical Team, develop and implement an environment conducive to effective behavior treatment that follows the best practices in the field of behavior analysis, positive behavior supports, positive growth and teaching of alternative (replacement) behaviors for students and individuals served
  • Collaborate with the Behavioral Team under the supervision of a BCBA/BCaBA/Behavior Specialist III/Coordinator of Behavioral Services to provide staff trainings, collect data for functional behavior assessments, develop behavior support plans, write reports, integrate data collection systems, and conduct treatment integrity checks.
  • Ensure implementation of all behavior support plans and teaching strategies for each student and individual served.
  • Assist BCBA/BCaBA/Behavior Specialist III/Coordinator of Behavioral Services in ensuring that all staff are trained on each student and individual served behavior support plan and data collection system.
  • Ensure data collection, data entry, analysis and organization of Antecedent, Behavior and Consequence (ABC) data as well as critical incident recording. 
  • Maintain all required documentation and progress notes in accordance with DEEC, DESE, DCF, DDS and other best practice standards.
  • Attend and participate in all necessary Treatment Team Meetings, Assessment Meetings, Six Month Review Meetings, IEP meetings, ISP meetings, Positive Behavior Support Meetings, and Behavioral Department Meetings.  Provide required written reports for assigned students and individuals served.

This is a 40 hour per week position Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with some flexibility required and some on-call responsibility.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  BCaBA, BCBA, or Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred.  
  • Conversational Portuguese or Spanish speaking preferred 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $23.50 per hour plus an additional $2.00 per hour Staff Retention Pay Rate which is currently funded through June 30, 2024.
